My Journey

My Post-Degree Journey

Professional Design Agency to provide solutions

  • BA(Hons) Dissertation

I started my career undertaking a bachelors degree in Graphic Design. I enjoyed communicating visually, through the use of typography, graphics and colour. Towards the end of my degree, I became interested in commercial interior design, steering towards brand experiences in physical spaces rather than two dimensional surfaces. I enjoyed looking at the psychology behind brand experiences and how they make consumers feel.

  • Post-Degree

I began working as a graphic designer, but my fascination grew with the intersection of design and human cognition. Coursera's 'Introduction to consumer neuroscience and neuromarketing' course was the starting point in stearing away from merely subjective design towards validated, grounded, user-centric experiences

  • Neuroscience Internship

My keen interest in this interplay landed me a neuroscience internship with Neural Sense in South Africa. There, I played a significant role in Ad and product testing, working with brands such as Coca-Cola, Twinkies and Standard Bank. My commitment led to my promotion, becoming a design consultant at Neural sense, taking full ownership, leading the design of their Ad Testing Platform. This design involved rigorous testing, involving EEG's, ET and GSR to optimise results and gain a thorough understanding of their users experiences.

  • A Masters Degree in User Experience Design

My thorough enjoyment at Neural Sense, defined the logical next step in my career, enrolling in Falmouth University's Masters Degree in User Experience Design. While I still have my final major project to go, I'm ready to begin applying my designs to real world brands.

Testimonials

Don't take my word for it!

I’ve had the pleasure of working contractually with a variety of businesses internationally over the past 3 years, and I’d love for you to hear what they have to say.

Beth has the ability to tackle a problem with divergent thinking and actively explores different scenarios objectively. She implements user centric design principles and always reverts back to the user for decision making.

Mark Drummond

Co-Founder at Neural Sense

A standout quality of Beth was her ability to empathise with our users who struggle to understand network solutions and data services. She had a remarkable knack for putting herself in the shoes of our target audience.

Stephan DuToit

Lighttree Technologies

Beth’s designs were a breath of fresh air in the typically dry world of accounting. Her ability to create visually appealing interfaces that were easy to navigate made a significant impact on our business.
